I seldom eat fast food at fast food restaurants. The only one that I go to more often than the others is Subway, where the meals are supposed to be healthier and that I can choose what I want to add to the sandwich. I remember I’ve eaten burgers just only a few times at McDonald and Burger King. They were not so fancy to mel.
Until I watched Kitchen Nightmare hosted by chef Gordon Ramsay and seeing him making beef burger, I was so inspired to make a real homemade burger. What I like is that I can substitute part of the beef with breadcrumbs, and I can control the amount of onion I want to put in the patty, just that the amount is reasonable to be equally distributed in the ground beef.

I also used homemade buns, which actually derive from the soft roll bread recipe that I often follow. To add more flavor to the burger, I made some barbecue sauce (I never used the bottled bbq sauce as I find making it very simple, besides, I can use the sauce to marinate other meats that I want to cook in the week) to brush the patties when I grilled them.
Not having a grill at home, I cooked the patties with a pan, turning them several times and brushing bbq sauce on the surfaces each time I flipped them. My bread was freshly baked. The patties were hot on the pan. Serving the hamburger with just a few tomato slices and some lettuce leaves, adding some mustard, it was really "fresh" and the taste was really good.

One burger like this is enough for me. I remembered I treated a group of friends with just these beef burgers. Most people had two, and one guy had three. If we hadn’t told him that each of us just had one or two, he might have continued eating the 4th one. I was glad that they said these burger tasted more special and flavorful than the "normal" burgers they often ate.
